French Dip sandwhiches
French Dip Sandwhiches
Ingredients for 4 sandwiches
•Provolone cheese, 2-3 slices per sandwich
• butter or oil for sautee OPTIONAL
•1/2-1 onion (I use white)
• 1/4 bell pepper (I used whatever colors I have and mix them) OPTIONAL
•Roast beef deli meat
•Honey Ham deli meat
•garlic, approx 1.5-2 cloves depending on how much you like garlic
•Hoagie rolls
•1 package of au jus gravy *
Instructions
•slice your onion and throw them in a pan and sauteé with some butter or oil, for a few min then add in bell peppers. (sometimes I add a little white sugar to them)
•while they're softening make the au jus gravy, once it has reached boiling turn the heat all the way down to low and leave it, stirring occasionally.
•Pre heat oven to HI broil
•After the onions are softened, turn the heat down to medium and throw the Garlic in and stir it around, keep stirring until you can smell the Garlic cooking, at that point put in all of your roast beef and stir it around then let it set for a few minutes, stirring occasionally.
•Split your Hoagie rolls and lay them out on a foil lined pan
put them in the oven for only a minute or so, until the bread is light brown.... watch closely bc the bread can burn quickly. once brown remove from oven.
•Add cheese to both sides and put in oven til melted OR put your meat and onion mix on the buns, put your cheese on top and put your sandwiches back in the oven until the cheese is melted.
•I like to slice the sandwiches in half just bc it makes them easier to handle and we pour some au jus into separate bowls for everyone.
*My family likes it without the au jus sauce. Also if you have brown gravy that will work too.
This recipe has been adjusted as it has been pasted from Mom, to Rachel to me.
